Information We Collect

Information you give us

Account information: your name, email address, and username when you create an account.
Contact information: your phone number and location, when you provide them to make an offer, use Buy Now, accept an offer, or submit a vehicle.
Vehicle submissions: the details you provide about your vehicle, including year, make, model, VIN, mileage, title status, modifications, service history, asking price, and the photos and videos you upload.
Offers and purchases: the amounts of your offers and Buy Now purchases, your acceptance of our terms, and the time and IP address of that acceptance.
Messages and comments: the messages you send to other users through the Services, and the comments you post on listings.
Communications with us: information you send when you contact us, including through our contact form.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. When you save a card, make an offer, use Buy Now, or pay a listing fee, your card details are collected directly by Stripe. Street Car Market never receives or stores your full card number. We store your Stripe customer ID and limited card details, such as the card brand and last four digits, so we can show your saved cards and record transactions.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we and our service providers automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Create and manage your account and sign you in.
Review vehicle submissions and publish approved listings.
Process offers, Buy Now purchases, listing fees, authorization holds, charges, and refunds.
Enable messages between buyers and sellers, and share contact information between a buyer and seller once an offer is accepted or a Buy Now purchase is made.
Send emails about your account, listings, offers, messages, and transactions.
Prevent fraud, spam, solicitation, and abuse, including by screening messages as described below.
Enforce our Terms of Use and comply with legal obligations.
Improve the Services.

Message screening. To protect users from spam, scams, and solicitation, messages may be checked automatically. Messages containing phone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information are blocked until an offer is accepted. The first message in a new conversation is reviewed by an automated system, operated by an AI service provider, to detect solicitation and fraud. Messages flagged by this check are held for review by our team before delivery.

Information That Is Public

Some information is visible to other users and visitors:

Your username, on listings you sell, comments you post, and offers you make.
Comments you post on listings.
Offers you make, shown on the listing with your username, the amount, and when it was made.
Listing details you provide for your vehicle, including photos, description, specifications, location, and asking price.

Your email address and phone number are not shown publicly. They are shared only with the other party to a transaction, once an offer is accepted or a Buy Now purchase is made.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

With the other party to a transaction: when an offer is accepted or a Buy Now purchase is made, the buyer and seller each receive the other's name, email address, and phone number to complete the sale.
With service providers that help us operate the Services, under agreements that limit how they use your information. These include providers for website hosting and membership (Ghost), our database (Supabase), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery (Resend), form processing (Formspree), photo and video uploads (Uploadcare), image delivery (ImageKit), search (Typesense), automation (n8n), security and performance (Cloudflare), and automated message screening (Anthropic).
For legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Street Car Market, our users, or others, including to investigate fraud.
In a business transfer: if Street Car Market is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Services. We also use your browser's local storage for conveniences such as saving your progress on the vehicle submission form, which stays on your device. Emails

We send emails about your account, listings, offers, messages, and transactions. These are necessary to provide the Services, so you cannot unsubscribe from them while your account is active. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. After that, we may keep certain information as needed to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements, including records of offers, transactions, payments, and acceptance of our terms.

Your Choices and Rights

You can request to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing support@streetcarmarket.com from the email address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

We may keep some information after a deletion request where needed for a pending transaction or payment, to comply with legal obligations, to prevent fraud, or to enforce our Terms. Information you posted publicly, such as comments, may be removed or anonymized.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. We will respond to requests in accordance with those laws. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Services are intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Contact us at support@streetcarmarket.com if you believe a minor has provided us with personal information.
